Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Garmin Golf Simulator Studios ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal data when you visit our website, create an account, purchase our products and studio packages, use our launch monitor devices and simulation software, or interact with us in any way.
By using our goods and services, you expressly consent and agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Our website may contain links to third-party sites we do not operate. We strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of every site you visit. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third-party sites or services.
1. What Is Personal Data
Personal data is any information that directly identifies you — such as your name or email address — or that can reasonably be used to identify you, such as your device ID or phone number. We do not consider aggregated, anonymized data as personal data for this policy.
2. Personal Data We Collect from You
When You Create an Account
When you create a Garmin Golf Simulator Studios account, we ask you to provide an account identifier, name, and password. For most users, your account identifier and primary contact method will be your email address. You may choose to provide only your first name or a nickname rather than your full name. We may also request a date of birth or an alternate contact method such as a mobile phone number.
When You Purchase a Product, Package, or Subscription
When you place an order — whether for a launch monitor device, a golf studio package, a software plan, or any subscription — we collect your name, billing address, mailing address, email address, and phone number. We do not view or store your payment card information. That is handled entirely by our third-party payment processors.
Please note that certain software features, studio integrations, and digital services require an active paid subscription. Subscription features, pricing, and available plans may vary and are subject to change. Unless otherwise disclosed at the time of purchase, subscriptions may renew automatically at the end of the current term using the payment method on file.
If a subscription expires, is canceled, or is not renewed, access to certain features may be limited or discontinued.
When You Use Our Devices and Services
When you use your launch monitor device or simulation software, we may collect:
- Device Information — Device serial number, device ID, IP address, operating system, browser type, and other diagnostic data.
- Usage Data — Activity on our services, including shot data, simulator session data, gameplay activity, browsing history within our apps, crash data, and performance diagnostics.
- Location Information — Your physical location, broadly or specifically, depending on which services you use and what permissions you grant.
- Fitness and Biomechanical Information — Movement, biomechanics, and fitness data where you choose to share it.
- Audio and Video Information — Images, audio recordings, and video collected or uploaded in connection with your use of our goods and services.
When You Sync Your Device
When you sync your device directly or through a compatible app, we log data about that transmission, including the IP address used at the time of syncing, the sync date and time, crash and diagnostic logs, geographic location of the device, device information, network type (Wi-Fi or cellular), and device battery level.
When You Communicate with Us
When you contact our customer support team by email, phone, online chat, or in person, we collect your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, and contact preferences, along with information about the products you own such as serial numbers and purchase dates. We may create event logs useful for diagnosing performance issues. Subject to applicable laws, we may also record and review support conversations and analyze voluntary survey feedback to improve our service quality.
With your consent, a support representative may sign into your account to help troubleshoot and resolve your issue.
When You Use Location-Based Services
If you choose to use location-based services such as weather or course mapping, the physical location of your device or connected mobile device will be collected to deliver those services to you.
When You Interact with Us on Social Media or Apply for Employment
We may collect information you share when you interact with us on social media channels. If you apply for a position through our website, we collect your name, address, email, phone number, and any education or employment history you submit.
Other Information You Choose to Provide
You may also provide additional profile information, photos, or other content when using our apps. This information is used to personalize your profile or enable you to post content related to your activities.
3. How We Use Your Personal Data
We use your personal data only in ways that comply with applicable law, and only for legitimate purposes tied to delivering our products and services. Specifically, we use your data to:
Provide and Improve Our Services. We use your personal data to deliver the goods and services you purchased, improve our features, perform internal audits and data analysis, and troubleshoot issues.
Process Your Transactions. To complete your purchase, we need information such as your name, what you are buying, and your shipping address.
Communicate with You. We use your contact information to respond to your inquiries, provide updates about your order or account, send important notices about changes to our terms or policies, and — if you have opted in — share promotional offers, news, and relevant information about our products and services. Important transactional communications cannot be opted out of, as they are necessary to your relationship with us.
Personalize Your Experience. We may use information such as your device type and activity data to display relevant content, product recommendations, and offers that are likely to be useful to you rather than showing the same information to everyone.
Provide Location-Based Features. When you grant location permissions in our app, we use your device location to deliver location-specific information, course data, and other relevant features. You may disable location services in your device settings, though some features will not be available without it.
Security and Fraud Prevention. We take active steps to identify, detect, and address fraud and abuse across our services, websites, and apps. This may include reviewing account data, communication history, and content you have contributed in order to investigate suspicious requests or claims and protect the integrity of our platform.
Comply with Legal Obligations. We process personal data as required by applicable law, including to satisfy tax and reporting obligations or respond to lawful governmental requests.
Research and Development. With your consent where required, we may use your activity data for internal research to build better and more relevant products and services.
4. How We Share Your Personal Data
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only in the following circumstances:
With Service Providers. We work with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate our business. These include cloud infrastructure providers such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, and Cloudflare; email delivery services; SMS messaging services; payment processors; fraud detection services; address verification services; subscription billing providers; shipping and logistics partners; and customer support tools. These providers receive only the data necessary to perform their services on our behalf.
With Affiliates and Partners. We share your personal data with our affiliate entities and, where appropriate, with authorized distributors, resellers, and partners who are involved in supporting, fulfilling, or servicing our products and services.
With Other Users. If you share content or interact in public areas of our platform, that information may be visible to other users. By default, your account activity data is set to private. You control your privacy settings and can adjust who can see your data at any time.
For Business Transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, sale of assets, financing, or corporate reorganization — including a bankruptcy proceeding — your personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction. Any entity receiving your data will be required to handle it in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
For Legal and Security Reasons. We may disclose your personal data when we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with a valid legal process, governmental request, or applicable law; to investigate or enforce potential violations of our Terms of Service; to protect the rights, property, and safety of our users, our team, or the public; or to detect and resolve fraud or security concerns.
With Your Consent. We may share your data with other parties when you have given us your explicit consent to do so.
5. International Transfers of Personal Data
Garmin Golf Simulator Studios is part of a global business. To deliver our products, apps, and services, your personal data may be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States, United Kingdom, and/or Australia.
For users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, your personal data is controlled by the relevant Garmin data controller entity and processed in compliance with applicable data protection law, including through approved model contractual clauses where required.
All entities involved in processing your data are required to follow the privacy practices described in this Privacy Policy.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website and apps use cookies and similar technologies such as web beacons to improve your experience, understand how our services perform, and make our advertising more relevant. We use two categories of these technologies:
Essential Cookies enable core site functionality and ensure our services operate properly. These are required for you to access and use our platform.
Analytical Cookies help us understand how visitors use our site, measure the effectiveness of our content and advertising, and remember your preferences. These are non-essential and can be managed through your browser settings.
You have the right to accept or reject cookies. If you block some or all cookies — including essential ones — certain features of our platform may not function as expected.
7. Monitoring and Analytics
We collect usage data to understand how our products, services, websites, and apps are being used. This includes date and time of server access, software and firmware version, device location, language settings, files downloaded, user behavior such as features used and frequency of use, device state information, device model, hardware and operating system details, and general app performance data.
We use this information to improve product quality, security, and functionality; develop features that better serve our users; and identify and fix stability issues as quickly as possible.
We work with third-party analytics providers including Google Analytics, Firebase (Crashlytics), and others to support these efforts. These providers may track user demographics, interests, and behavior in aggregate form.
8. How We Protect Your Information
We take the security, integrity, and confidentiality of your personal data seriously. We have put technical, administrative, and physical security measures in place to protect your data from unauthorized access, disclosure, use, and modification. We regularly review our security procedures and update them as needed.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we work hard to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Retention of Your Personal Data
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is considered active, for as long as necessary to fulfill our business purposes, and as required or permitted under applicable law and regulatory obligations.
You can delete your data or close your account at any time. See Section 12 for more information.
10. Automated Decision-Making
We do not make decisions based on algorithms or other automated processing that significantly affect you.
11. Your Rights and Managing Your Data
Depending on where you reside, you may have the right to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete your personal data at any time. We provide a self-service Account Management Center where you can exercise these rights after signing in with your credentials.
We do not sell your personal data — not under any definition, including those outlined under California or Nevada law.
If you are a California resident, our CCPA Privacy Notice applies to you.
If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, our EU/UK Privacy Addendum applies to you.
Regional addenda are also available for users in Japan, Canada, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
